A letter to lurkers

By Robert ~

Hi Christian lurkers! I know you read these letters.I was reading these letters for years before I decided to leave the fold. My study of the Parousia was the beginning of the end of my faith. Would you like to put a believer on the spot? It's simple.Check out these two scripture:

Ascension & ParousiaImage by Matthew Wireman via Flickr
I Corinthians 7:29-31 (NRSV) I mean, brothers and sisters, the appointed time has grown short; from now on, let even those who have wives be as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no possessions, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.
I Thessalonian 4:14-17 (NRSV)
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. FOR THIS WE DECLARE BY THE WORD OF THE LORD,that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever.

Ask a believer,"Do you think Paul was a liar?" The usual counter is that Paul was mistaken and was just over zealous for Christ to return.Ask him, "Why would Paul say, "For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord."

The is tons of evidence that Christ was to return in first century. Christians have come up with anything and everything to refute this. They HAVE to find a way to refute this because it will negate everything they have believed all their lives. It is the most easily proven fact that is written in the New Testament, Christ was coming soon!

Don't take my word for it. Look up scripture for yourself. Start with Matthew 24:34, like I did. Read what bible scholars say about it. Gleason Archer, a Christian, and one of the best known bible scholars to date could not explain away the fact that Jesus said he would return in first century. Read everything you can about Christ's return. You have heard what the Christians want you to believe, now read what others have to say about it. I promise that you will come away with a new understanding of the New Testament.

I did, and it changed my thinking forever.
