By houndies ~ I t occured to me recently that while xtians are often the ones to tell a nonbeliever that he/she can have no moral code without their biblegod, they are really the ones who have no reason to be moral. Their doctrine asserts that as long as one believes in christ as the way to god, they will go to heaven. Regardless, the notion that xtians aren't perfect, just forgiven, is a belief that gives them no reason to be accoutable for anything at all. It's carte blanche to do whatever to whomever and not have to feel guilty. A few well placed tears to appease a scowling congregation and all is forgiven. If this is the worst punishment, then why not lie, steal, cheat, and so forth? Typically I have found the the remorse is shortlived and it's off to satisfy the old lusts of the flesh again. By Houndies --  A while back I had what I would call an epiphany. Now, I can be a little slow on the uptake sometimes and many of you might have already had this thought. If so, forgive me as I am just now catching up. My thought was, "If there was an all powerful Christian god, why in the world would He need a bible to communicate with his people?" It seems, according to the bible, that He used to actually visit and communicate with his peeps. There was no bible for Adam and Eve. God just showed up, coffee in hand, and started chatting. "Hey, did I (AM) ever tell you guys about the time I (AM) created... blah, blah, blah." Of course, later there were others He chatted with: Moses, Noah, the Devil, David and so on. It's my understanding that these were actual dialogues, not signs or interpreted words. Questions from Houndies -- I wanted to get some thoughts from my ex-Christian peeps about some stuff I have been considering in the book Genesis -- just to reinforce the ridiculousness of it all, really, and maybe make some good conversation. Image by M.V. Jantzen via Flickr First, the fact that Adam and Eve were made naked by God. Okay, if god made them naked it obviously wasn't considered a sin to be naked. So, I guess my question is if God didn't consider it a sin to be naked, why did eating from the tree suddenly make being naked a sin? To put it another way, if eating from the tree gave them knowledge of good and evil, how did it suddenly make something God saw as okay (the nakedness) a sin or a bad thing? Secondly, the Garden of Eden was a supposed perfect place and there was no sin, right?
