Control them through Fear and Love

Image
By Kalos ~ N iccolo Machiavelli (who actually devoted much of his life and work to free republics, which leads some to think "The Prince" was a sort of satire) pointed out the sad truth that people will more readily follow someone they fear than someone they love. He goes on to say "I conclude that since men love as they themselves determine but fear as their ruler determines, a wise prince must rely upon what he and not others can control." It breaks down like this: you are less likely to revolt against someone you are afraid of then you are to revolt against someone you love. Love can be a fickle thing, if the ruler does something you do not like you may decide you do not love them anymore. This is what Machiavelli means when he says "men love as they themselves determine." Biligerant Ignorance

Image
By Kalos ~ T he light of day is scary to the head that has only known the inside of an anus. This head even goes as far as to think that being out of the anus is a problem and those who see the world around them are actually missing out on the glorious, timeless truths one finds in their own ass! Many people don’t like learning new things and changing their views. It’s much easier to try and force inconsistencies into compliance. Obviously, I just came back from the Creationist Museum in Cincinnati, OH . Image by Jeff Macpherson via Flickr I have never been subject to the complete bullshit that is creationist pseudo-science . My parents had no desire to look into it; they are happy with Christianity and see no need to justify their belief. The total hypocrisy, the belligerent bias, and the intellectual dishonesty of that museum will have you laughing and then crying. You’ll walk away with a little less faith in humankind. Let me tell you some of their arguments. They say Noah w...

The Imp did it! Or... was it Satan?

Image
By Kalos    M y group of friends knows a guy named Mark. Mark believes in auras, he believes he knows a werewolf, he believes he found Hitler’s REAL diary in a library in Afghanistan while he was in the army (though he probably never left US soil), he believes he was reincarnated, he believes in energy manipulation (like Kamehameha’s if you’ve ever watched Dragon Ball Z ), he once told a story that he was thrown out of church for making an energy dragon, and he believes an imp haunts his house. Needless to say we find this kid hilarious. Image by TheoJunior via Flickr So, to set the next part of my story up I must tell another story. My friend Darrel has known Mark for a very long time, but Darrel is a very rational atheist. Darrel was the one that saw what he described as a Jewish star with runic writing around it above Mark’s door and asked what it was. Mark replied that his house was haunted by an Imp and the symbol there was a protective seal to keep it out of his roo...
