Suspended sentence for masturbating pastor
A pentecostal pastor who shocked a woman who saw him masturbating in a Walmart parking lot in St. John's received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty in court Thursday.
Geoffrey Whitt was charged with committing an indecent act last December.
A woman who saw Whitt masturbating in a car parked beside hers, testified She could not escape the parking lot because her car was blocked by his.
Whitt was given a suspended sentence in a St. John's court on Thursday. He's also been put on 12 months probation.
Since 2002, the pastor worked for the Bethesda Pentecostal Assemblies in St. John's east end.
After he was charged with committing an indecent act, Whitt resigned from his job as a children's pastor with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador.
In court, Whitt apologized to his family, friends and the woman who witnessed him. He is currently receiving counselling.
