Why we have to keep trying.

Image
By SeageVT -- W e have the hardest task of any group of mutually feeling people. To undo what has been done. Christianity is a crutch; an addiction, if you will, and us? We are the clinic down the street who everyone hates. Who no one wants to go to. “I don’t have a problem.” Image by Lee Carson via Flickr They’re blind. Christianity will not be dead for a long time, but we are the ones who must fight for the rest of the world’s freedom. Freedom from ancient beliefs that are not applicable to the modern world. Freedom from the idea that a human can not be good unless in the eye of God; free from believing that you can’t do good if it isn’t for God. Free from the belief that if an Atheist does a good deed it doesn’t count because we haven’t prayed for our forgiveness from God! Freedom from a tyrannical bed time story, called God. But the world is at a stand still. New things being invented, new findings, new ideas, but still, as a pool of untouched water; a thick layer of ice o...

Something In The Way Christianity Moves

Image
By SeageVT -- Y esterday, my husband was admitted into an inpatient treatment center to be put on suicide watch and receive help with his sever anxiety disorder and the PTSD he has from a tour in Iraq where he was blown up by an IED . Image via Wikipedia His mother called me late last night, freaking out about it. Obviously she had been worried, but he had initially asked me not to tell her, because he had guessed what her reaction would be. She is an acclaimed Catholic . She use to preach to me about how I'm being led down the wrong path, yet all she could talk about last night; the money we owe her. Her son is in the hospital, wakes up several times every night in a cold sweat, talks about how he isn't worth anything and no one should suffer him to live, how he hate's himself and that I don't deserve the "stress" he puts me through. Even though I was the first to tell her about these things, even though my husband has asked me not to, all she could t...

Sinners lead terrible lives?

Image
By SeageVT -- A lright, this is where I'm just lost in baffles of laughter: In the Bible it is stated that the sinners and non-believers will go to hell, burn for all eternity, suffer long and hard for what they have done, and God shall turn a blind eye to their pleas, right? And supposedly, in Christian eyes, sinners and non-believers are dirty, filthy, poor people, who are bad influences on everyone! The very ground they walk on is covered in their filth! They go drinking every night and sleep with various members of the opposite and SAME SEX! They do drugs! They kill without a feeling of remorse! THEY RAPE YOUR CHILDREN! Image by Jake Daniel Hall via Flickr What I'm lost in is this: If being a non-believer, or "sinner" is so horrible, why is it that when I finally gave up religion I found myself graduating high school, falling in love, joining the military, getting married, getting accepted into college, starting my own business, having a decent income, enjoyi...
