God, The Ultimate Abusive Spouse

Image
By MTC ~ T he "relationship" Christians have with their deity and wish for others to seek as well, is claimed to be one of pure love, benevolence, and devotion. However, if one pays close attention to the Bible, church teachings, etc., this relationship is exactly like an abusive marriage ("The Church," which is comprised of all Christians, is indeed said to be his bride). "God" demands complete control over the lives of his followers; where they live, what they do for a living, according to the Bible God controls everything in their lives, and if they rebel in even the slightest way, watch out! Christians are instructed to fear their god. In fact, they often avoid doing, saying, or even thinking about things they fear will anger him. I remember that all too well when I was still a believer! One of the main reasons why battered spouses don't leave and file for divorce is because they're too scared to do so. "God" threatens mortals ...

I Hate That People Prayed For Me When I Was 2 or 3,
& Whatever Happened To "Trusting God's Plan?"

Image
by MTC ~ L et me start by saying, that I'm not having plans or intentions of taking my own life. That being said, I (39F) got really sick when I was 2 or 3 years old. Everyone everywhere was praying for me, because they thought I was going to die. It was during this time that I was diagnosed with autism. Even though I turned out to be higher-functioning, in several ways I practically got punished for having autism (even though I sure as heck didn't choose to have it), and my family had to endure their own challenges and obstacles as a result of my diagnosis, and I feel horrible for them. I also ended up being an "early bloomer," developing breasts at 10 and starting my period at 11. As silly as it may sound, to this very day having been an "early bloomer" is one of the major reasons I have to take anti-depressants and other similar medications. It was during my early teens when I learned about being sick in earlier childhood and everyone praying for me. I...

Having Autism Is One Reason I Ditched Xtianity

Image
By MTC ~ I (a 39-year-old female) was diagnosed with autism in early childhood. Even though I turned out to be higher-functioning in several ways, I practically got punished for it (having autism).   My mom, having a tendency to be overprotective, and having to be cautious in certain places because my hearing was heightened and therefore loud noises triggered me, and people thinking I should live in a group home and/or be in special education... are just a few ways of how I practically got punished for something I didn't choose. My family had to overcome hardships and challenges as well because of my diagnosis, and I feel terrible for them. They love me and wouldn't change a thing, but I still wish they didn't have to endure their obstacles.   On one hand, my autism wasn't preached to me and/or my family as the result of sin, a punishment, or the work of "the devil." On the other hand however, I was taught that "God" creates us how we are, or at ...

Incident With Christian Sister Still Lingers

Image
By MTC ~ I n late 2020 I started talking to my sister again after being on non-speaking terms for several months. She had struggled with alcohol and substance addiction (I was on non-speaking terms with her for other reasons though), but then she "found Jesus" at a local church (which I used to attend, ironically). In January of 2021 after I moved back to my home state and started talking to her again, I chatted with her about my past traumas, humiliations, etc. I was upfront and blunt about "God," and she snapped at me. "HEY! This is a Christian home; we don't cross that line! God is kinder to you than you realize. You're breathing air and have food to eat and a roof over your head!" First of all, what a kick in the face to the countless people who are starving, homeless, died at younger ages than I am now, etc. Second of all, her little lecture was exactly like defending an abusive parent, because even though an abusive parent may do...

Fundamental Religion is Abuse, Period

Image
By MTC ~ F undamental religious upbringings are toxic and unhealthy. Even if the kids appear to be fed, clothed, and cared for, the indoctrination, sheltering, and other negative aspects which are prevalent in such households are abusive in their own way, period. Example: James and Stacy McDonald . James is a pastor, Stacy is an author (one of her books is titled " Raising a Maiden of Virtue ," or something along that line). I'll list a couple of their links below. Both of these kooks have the mindset that the father/husband is always right in the family (yeah, what could possibly go wrong there?), a woman can only be a homemaker and feminism has destroyed families, and other similar garbage. They're also homeschool parents. Conservative Christian and homeschool parents... need I say more? I'm not sure about sons, but I know daughters of James and Stacy McDonald (and other similar religious nuts) are practically forbidden to have unsupervised contact w...

Attack of the Condescending Christian

Image
By MTC ~ G otquestions.org , is a popular website for those with questions about the Bible, God, etc. They act "holy and godly" on their website, but watch out! Be warned, this is a lengthy post. LOL To start, here is a message I sent to gotquestions.org : "Hello! As indicated, I'd like to share a few issues regarding the Bible and common answers, including those found on your website. A common theme in Christianity, and that your ministry endorses, is male headship in the church and the home. Supposedly women aren't inferior, less intelligent or capable, etc. Yet God reserves leadership in the church and home for men only. One of your pages says, "Sexism is the abuse of these roles, not the existence of these roles." Yeah, that makes a lot of sense! *sarcasm* And gee, just maybe the existence of these roles, along with the "fact" that they're given by God himself, is exactly why they get abused and taken advantage of. After all, ...

An Immensely Hurtful Time During The Holidays

Image
By MTC ~ D ecember 23rd, the day one of my stepbrothers died. Today is the 11-year anniversary of his death, but it sure doesn't seem like it's already been a decade and a year! "Steps" have a negative reputation, but they wouldn't if they were all like Tracy. He was just like a real brother in every way. He was in the hospital for 18 days before his death, and for a majority of that time he was comatose. The whole ordeal was immensely painful, and I'll never forget! Christianity loves to harp about the power of prayer, and the claim that if you ask for something in Jesus's name you'll receive it (or something along that line anyway). There were many people praying for Tracy while he was in the hospital. But nevertheless he didn't pull through. Christian doctrine also claims that God doesn't want anyone to perish, or in their terms be condemned to eternal damnation for something as small as not believing in him or agreeing with h...

Criticism Double-Standards

Image
By MTC ~ I think we can all agree that double-standards tend to be stupid and unfair, especially in today's politically correct world. It is acceptable to criticize one group, ideology, etc., but criticize another and you're labeled an intolerant bigot. Big example: people aren't afraid to bash Christianity (who on here hasn't done just that? LOL), Judaism, or atheism, but bash Islam and here come the insults; bigot, racist (even though Islam isn't a race, hello!), hick, etc. What is with the hypocritical double-standard? Speaking of which, many people have nicknamed Facebook "Fascistbook" because the admins will discipline you in a heartbeat (often a temporary block from posting) if you share anything that insults Islam and Muslims, even if it is totally accurate or merely meant as a joke. But FB pages like "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" are perfectly acceptable. What is the deal with that, hmm?... In New York C...

Not the Creation of an Intelligent Designer

Image
By MTC ~ This post has some inspiration by this article from the Faithless Feminist . A s mentioned, menstruation is not the work of a so-called "intelligent designer." Besides being able to have kids, periods serve no use whatsoever. Not to mention they get in the way of things. If "God" is so all-knowing as well as understanding and caring, he would've come up with a much more convenient and simple way for women to be able to have kids. The article also mentions that breast size doesn't matter when it comes to lactation. Which reminds me, why are humans the only creatures where the female always has bigger breasts even if she's not pregnant or nursing? According to Biblical Gender roles, "God" also intended for a woman's chest to bring comfort and pleasure to a man. He wired men to be attracted to women's breasts, and curvy hips as well. So in other words, women were intentionally created to be sex objects. To heck wit...

God, I Want A Divorce

Image
By MTC ~ I was raised Catholic, went through an agnostic phase, then classified myself as a non-denominational Christian after "finding Jesus" again during a Baptist church service while visiting maternal relatives. Like so many others, I was devout and had such a strong relationship with God. However, that doesn't mean there were certain teachings in the Bible and Christianity that didn't sit well with me. Then again, our Heavenly Father knows best. Bleh! I happened to find several videos on youtube and other sources elsewhere on the Internet which gave very intriguing facts about the history of the Bible, earlier myths, etc. To sum it up quickly, I no longer classify as any religious person. Not just the lack of evidence or newly discovered facts, but what mainly did it for me is the numerous teachings, claims, etc., in Biblical doctrine that make absolutely no sense at all if one really thinks and pays attention. Example: God is in control and ever...
