Recently, after some personal problems, my situation turned out as such that I had to spend some time with my best friend's family. Not a day, or a week, but 4 months. Now, I knew this, but they were religious and practicing Catholics. I still thought "What the hell, I don't think it'll cause any problems. I know how to talk to people". Then I was 17, and I thought that it would be pretty fun to be living in the same house as my best friend, who was also heavily religious.

I myself am an agnostic-atheist, meaning that I am %98 sure that there isn't a God, but agree that there might be something out there. Or something like that. ^^

Anyways, they made me go to Church, and, let me tell you, there is NOTHING like being dragged out of bed on Sunday to go to Church, of all places, when you are an Atheist. So every weekend, I would wake up at 8. Then, I would put on some nice clothes, as if it was an exhibition or something, and then we would ride over to the waste of space and time known as the Church. It shall be abbreviated as 'WOSAT' for ease of reading.

And every day I would sit in those little rows, and try to hide my dismay at the sheer stupidity of the people around me, my temporary Guardians included. I also forgot to mention something- we didn't always go to the same wosat every Sunday. Sometimes, we went to a POLISH wosat. What the fuck? I don't even speak Polish, and you want me to go to CHURCH where they speak that?

Anyway, the pastor would preach a bunch of bullshit about how we need to be saved, but how Jesus loves us, etc etc. And then he (because it's never a she- the wosat is sexist like that) would pray for all of the misery in the world to go "POOF" and vanish.

But did it?

No. The same shit still went on, every day, and just because some moderately well-off family drove to an expensive building in expensive clothes and spoke to an imaginary all-powerful friend to help- SHIT WON'T GET DONE. Church is for the hypocrites and for the delusional. If you want to help, do something, you lazy families and clergymen, don't go to Church or beg for donations. Oh, and the donations! Holy Shit!

For the first 20 minutes, the pastor would speak about how the Church needs money. Now, I though to myself: "Whenever I pay money, it is going to be for the reception of goods". What does the Church do for all that money? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

That fucking fat priest would pray for world hunger to be 'solved', while stuffing his filthy, lying face with food. And no, that is not the minority of clergymen. I mean, think- when have you EVER see a clergyman that ISN'T fat? Or beer-bellied?

It is disgusting, and it should stop. They speak the message of Christ, while doing absolutely nothing about it. The occasional hand-outs to the poor are to only keep up a public image. Whatever.

Here is a quote or two to ponder on, to close off my rant/story:

-I like your Christ. It's his fan club that I have problems with.

-99.8% of Clergy mean give others a bad name.

God does not exist. Wake up.
