Praise the Lord for His Faithfulness!

By James Wilhelm ~

Christians tell us that God's ways are not our ways.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.” Isaiah 55:8

And also this:

“A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out. In faithfulness He will bring forth justice.” -- Isaiah 42:3
The accepted meaning of this verse is that a battered and broken person - God will not further damage. As one interpretation explains – “He will not extinguish us while in our brokenness.”

I’ve had the opportunity of knowing many Christians in many settings. So many times you hear them pray for the frivolous. Praise the Lord! I lost my car keys and He found them! Thank you Jesus! Or; I was almost out of gas - late at night - and prayed to the Lord to find an open gas station – Oh, thank you Jesus - I found one! The list goes on and on. Jesus and the Holy Spirit sure takes care of the faithful.

Praise the Lord! I lost my car keys and He found them! Thank you Jesus! But, now there’s this little kid - in the shadows of life - barely hanging on. This kid gets abused over and over – so much so that he expects it now. But he still prays - over and over to God for relief. Hoping that a silent God might hear him - might help him. But nothing ever happens. Jesus is always a no-show.

The kid slips deeper into the dark recesses of life - slowly losing the battle. In fact, now he’s no longer asking God for help. He’s older now – harder now – and forgotten all that. He’s now become what he hated. It was his only option. A choice he didn’t make because it was made for him. And now he’s on his way to hell. Just ask someone that loves Jesus.

“A bruised reed he will not break.” Really? How is it that God will answer the frivolous – the silly stuff in life - but totally ignore someone like this?

“God’s ways are not our ways.” Let’s raise our hands to the Lord – and praise His holy name - for His faithfulness goes on forever! It feels so good! And this nice feeling helps us to put stuff like this out of our minds. No need to be bothered by it.

Makes you think.
