The Destruction of (S)Hell

By Johan de Haan --

It has been suggested that the continued criticism of the Holy Catholic Church now constitutes canine podiatry, and that both the victims and the perpetrators of the vile deeds which have graced our front pages should be gifted the opportunity to take stock of the revelations and resolve the matter is as mature a manner as possible. Needless to say, I consider such views, expressed overwhelmingly by the Catholic and Christian faithful, as facilitation only slightly little less grotesque and distasteful than the abusers themselves.

For anyone to suggest that the further criticism of the Catholic Church should be “toned down” on account of the severity of it all, suggests strongly that the speaker has lost track of the extent to which the rot has crept, the vile sickness of the revelations and the stolen childhoods that have been sacrificed at the incense reeking alter of religious idiocy. Not only that, but to make such comments detracts from the stark and influential admissions, implicit and tacit, that have been made by the Catholic Church during this period.

The first set of revelations relate to what I shall call the “Revelatio Physicum”, concerning the real world, in terms of which we have been starkly confronted with the level of primitivity maintained by Catholic Church doctrine. One such example concerns the charge of deicide against the Jews, a charge officially surrendered under de declaration Nostra Aetate, but which under the stench of cover-ups and accusations has once more raised its gnarled head. It is at times like this that the indoctrination and ignorance of institutional religious faith is revealed, in this case in the form of one Emeritus Bishop, Giacomo Babini, claiming that the Jews, as “natural enemies” of the Holy Church, were to blame for the allegations of abuse and exploitation by Church Fathers. For any thinking individual such claims of mindless stupidity would hardly warrant consideration, if not contextualised by the further allegations of equal or exceeding incredulity, such as those of the Vatican’s second in command, Cardinal Bertone, who was gallant enough to expose the Catholic Church’s fascination not only with the young and helpless but also its historical hobby-horse of homosexuality. Indeed, the courteous Cardinal was carefree enough to put forward what many of us had long seen coming, namely the allegation that homosexuality was to blame for the paedophilia in Church ranks. Not only did he make such an allegation, but he was misleading enough to claim “empirical evidence” in support of his allegation. Whilst the fallout was swift and ruthless, it came too late to spare us a glimpse into the sordid, prejudiced minds of the faithful fathers whose social development remains firmly rooted in the time of Augustine.

The second set relates to what one could conversely refer to as the “Revelatio Spiritus”, or those revelations made concerning the Catholic Church’s position on the “spiritual truth” of the Gospel it has been persistently preaching to its audience for almost two millennia. Consider for the moment the following proposition:

  1. That the Catholic Church, or at least the majority of current Church Fathers, actually believe the nonsensical immorality of its biblical claims;
  2. The Church or the said Fathers can therefore be assumed to believe both the scriptures relating to eternal punishment and the type of conduct or omission that would warrant such endless suffering;
  3. For the purpose of comparison, the Catholic Church has indeed provided us with a useful list of reasons why one may be bound for, or be at risk of, such an eternal hell. According to the latest Papal decree this list includes: practicing birth control, morally dubious experimentation, drug abuse, pollution of the environment, widening divisions between rich and poor, excessive wealth and creating poverty. Anal sex, as so vividly described by Romans 1, is clearly a no-brainer, certainly when it involves an adult male preying on terrified and defenseless minors;
  4. If 1 and 2 above were true, there is surely no doubt that any Church Father would consider his eternal soul a far more important consideration than ensuring the cover-up of the distasteful conduct of one of his fellows of the frock and would be fear-bound to ensure that such practices were exposed, punished and prevented, and his eternal soul be guarded against contamination.

The fact that the eternal retribution of the Church Priests and Fathers has not even been mentioned is a stark and harsh reminder of the extent to which the Catholic Church lends credence to its own claims. The above is a broad explanation of the simple statement that “anyone who truly believes that the punishment for sin is eternal hell will not conduct him or herself in a manner that either inflicts such abuse directly or in any manner or form allows, risks or enables such behaviour”.

If indeed, any single senior figure of the Catholic Church took the contents of Scripture seriously, their fear of the fires of hell, as hearsay evidence ascribes to one Jewish carpenter in Matthew 5:22, such belief would be sufficient motivation not only to ensure that such behaviour was prevented, but that steps be taken to ensure that the leaders of the church had done all in their power to justify their own conduct before Almighty God.

The fact that the eternal retribution of the Church Priests and Fathers has not even been mentioned is a stark and harsh reminder of the extent to which the Catholic Church lends credence to its own claims. Of course this principle can be applied to various aspects of the Church, however the telling aspect is that even when the most vile and disgusting of crimes is concerned - the sexual exploitation and abuse of the young (in some cases physically and mentally handicapped) - the Church fails to give a second thought to the godly consequences of their conduct but concerns itself only with earthly attempts at an earthly cover-up.

The shell that is religious doctrine has been cracking long since Kepler, Copernicus and Einstein revealed the extent of its folly, ignorance and lies. Nevertheless, to realise that in the face of revelations of vicious buggery and the exploitation of the young, the weak and the impressionable, the most powerful religious institution spares not a thought for the godly consequences of their own action, is surely the final confirmation of a godless charade. All that sets religious institutions apart is the hypocrisy in its continued affirmations of faith in a floundering attempt to convince the impressionable of its added value.

If the Church of the inquisition, the crusades and the abuse of children maintains no fear of the hereafter, its claims are not excusable as childlike or naïve - they are the frightening, two-faced and manipulative hypocrisy of demons.
