Why Did God Create Us?

Why did God create us rather than not create us at all? Did God need to create us? I know Christians will say God did not need to create us, since there is the Triune God, which is self-existing and completely whole. This God needed nothing, and they must stress here that God needed NOTHING; otherwise there are problems with the Christian understanding of God needing anything.

So why did he create us? Why ruin this perfect existence he previously had?
